On 13th and 14th June 2026, a large group of Leicester Neptune swimmers took part in the City of Leicester Summer Splash open meet at Braunstone.

There was a busy schedule of events and high standards, with competitors representing City of Leicester, Braunstone, Leicester Penguins, Corby, Rushden, Lichfield, Warwick University and others.

It was a long, hot weekend poolside and Neptune swimmers rose to the occasion with some great performances, personal bests, county times – with, of course, some near misses too.

Most impressive was the way our swimmers conducted themselves the whole time. Always cheerful, always energetically supporting each other (and their City of Leicester teammates), and ready to have fun – we had creative tattooing and setting up the shadow club ‘Better than Neptunes SC’… They represented themselves and Neptune in the best possible way – so well done all!

Special shout out to Jake D who competed in his first gala having only started with us a few weeks ago. His first competitive race was 50 fly! Well done Jake, hope to see racing again soon!

On Saturday 18^th April 2026 Leicester Neptune hit the water for the Final Round of the Leicestershire and District Winter League at Nuneaton.

On the back of strong results in the previous two rounds, our league position ensured we qualified for the ‘B Final’ – a step up from last year, where we competed in the ‘C Final’. This meant tougher opposition and faster swimming.

Neptune’s junior and senior swimmers rose to the challenge superbly, with excellent performances across all the age groups. There were several wins and top 3 results – a particular mention must go to the dominance of our male open relay team, which won both the showcase freestyle and medley relays – a really spectacular performance.

Competitive throughout the night, Neptune finished fifth. For a long time we were fourth, but just got pipped by Market Harborough at the end.

Our swimmers have made excellent progress over the past year and results like this demonstrate Neptune’s continuing upward trajectory – all of them should be really proud of what they have achieved.

Of course, they cannot do this without the ongoing support of their parents, families and friends – so a big thank you to all. And to the Neptune team managers, poolside helpers and officials who ensure everything runs smoothly on poolside.

Neptune will be back in competitive action soon. Saturday 9^th May is Round 2 of the Diddy League, before our Club Championships begin, with round 1 on Friday 15^th May at Parklands. More at our Events Calendar
