Saturday 21^st March was the first round of the 2026 Leicestershire and Rutland Diddy League, which took place at Coalville. The Diddy League is fast, furious and loud – and an exciting introduction to competition for our 12 and under swimmers.

We only had a small squad available on the day, which meant there were a number of races where we were unable to field a swimmer or relay team. In others, swimmers had to race up or down an age group. But this meant everyone had an opportunity to take part in a good number of events.

Our young Neptunes performed superbly to earn the team a respectable 5^th place. There were several excellent wins and top three performances. Had it not for our small squad, we would have finished much higher overall.

So, congratulations to all the Leicester Neptune team on a great effort. And a particular congratulations to our debutant swimmers:

Leicester Neptune swimmers were back in action early in 2026, with Round 1 of the Leicestershire and Rutland Winter League taking place at Pingles (Nuneaton) on Saturday 10^th January.

It was a particularly tough draw, pitching Neptune against some of the leading clubs in the region, but there’s probably no better way to blow off the Christmas cobwebs then testing yourself against top opposition.

As always, Leicester Neptune swimmers gave it their best with some gutsy performances earning the team an excellent 5^th out of 8 teams (see below for final standings).

Congratulations to all swimmers – a special mention for Joud, who made his Neptune debut in the boys 11 and under age group. His 50 freestyle performances were brilliant – hopefully we’ll see you back competing with us soon!
