Saturday 5th April saw Leicester Neptune at Coalville for Round 1 of the 2025 Leicestershire and District Diddy League. The Diddy League is for swimmers aged between 9 and 12 and is a great opportunity for our youngest members to get their first taste of competitive action for Neptune.

Due to swimmers transitioning age groups we took a small squad and were unable to field teams for the 9-and-under relay events.

It was a night of fast and furious action and, despite our smaller squad, Neptune swimmers put on a terrific performance, with 20 top-3 finishes and an overall placing of joint 4th against strong opponents.

As usual, Neptune swimmers provided raucous encouragement and support for their teammates throughout and it was great to see the younger members of our squad getting fully involved.

Last weekend (28-30 March 2025) Neptune swimmers, their friends and family hit the water to raise funds for Swimathon 2025 in pools across Leicester.

Leicester Neptune swimmers never shy away from a challenge and, showing their usual dedication and commitment, they all entered the tough 5K events – 200 lengths in total, either as part of a team or solo.

‘Team Neptune’ comprised some of the club’s youngest swimmers – Aimee-Rose A (9), Amelia K (9), Ella N (11) and Jemima M (10), along with their friend, Max. Between them they raised over £1,400 for Swimathon, a superb achievement.

Commenting on the experience, Aimee-Rose said “It was hard but really fun – and totally worth it!”

Swimathon is held annually and raises huge amounts for national charities Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie.

Congratulations to all Neptune swimmers, their families and friends who took part. We’re very proud of you for supporting such a great cause.
