New Season Meeting for Swimmers and Parents

by admin

The meeting will take place in the portacabin at Evington Leisure Centre, Downing Drive, on Friday the 12th of September.  The meeting for junior swimmers in Blue, Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum squads will start at 7.00pm so please arrive at 6.45pm.  The meeting for all other swimmers, (i.e. seniors and masters), will start at 8.00pm, so please arrive at 7.45pm.  Both meetings will only be for about half an hour and during this time we would like to share our competition goals and training aims.  You will be welcome to ask questions on the night, but if you already have a burning question please email one of us in advance so we can make sure that it is included.

There will be resfreshments provided at the meetings, but we are still looking for a couple of volunteers to help with this.   If you can help please see or email Helen.

Hope to see you all there,

Martin, Chris, Alison and Helen

Neptune Grows Bigger!

New DMU Session Starts on the 1st of September

Due to waiting lists for most of the junior sessions, from the 1st of September 2014 we will be running an extra Blue squad session from 5.30pm to 7.00pm on a Monday night at the DeMontfort University QE2 Leisure Centre.  This will eventually expand to Tuesday nights later in the season.

The new session is for those swimmers currently in the Blue sqaud that we know have been struggling to take on a second session over the week due to sessions already being full, and we hope that you will find the earlier time more convenient.  The new Monday session will be coached by Chris and, just like other Blue squad sessions, will be working towards swimmers taking part in the City of Leicester SC Mini Meet series in 2015.

If you are in Blue squad and would like to either take up an extra session or change your current session to this Monday session, please contact Alison or Chris.

What We are Doing in Training Now – August

by admin

You may have noticed that the intensity of your training has dropped slightly over the summer period.  This is because we have come to the end of the season and our training cycle and we are in a period of rest, recovery and reflection.  In your training sessions we have been focussing on technique, with juniors working on ASA stroke awards on Fridays and the seniors have been doing more drill work in preparation for the new season which starts on the 1st of September.

If you have been away (or “staycationed”), we hope that you have all had a well deserved rest!

By your coaches!

Neptune Swimmers Train Alongside The GB Open Water Team

by admin

Early this morning three more of our young swimmers took part in open water training for the very first time at Stanton Lakes, Stoney Stanton.  The water was a balmy 20.4 degrees with a light breeze, but otherwise perfect conditions.  The was a great oportunity to watch the professionals in action as the GB open water team were also training in the lake at the same time in preparation for the European Championships.
