Sink or Swim Entries for Round 3 – September 9th 2023

by Stephen Benbow

Just a quick reminder that the Sink or Swim Round 3 Gala is on Saturday September 9th at Wigston. We are the current holders having won the competition last year in 2022. So lets try and keep the trophy!!

This is also the weekend of the Solent Charity Swim (https://www.justgiving.com/team/Aspire-Neptune-Solent2023) so we are down on swimmer numbers.

If you are able to attend the Sink or Swim gala and haven’t already completed the google form, could you please do so by 24th August as we can then create the Team.  Google forms have previously been sent out via email, or head to the LNSC Facebook Page for a link.

Note that this will also be a licenced level 4 event so all 50m & 100m times will go on ASA rankings and will be able to be used for county qualifying.

There is no cost to enter. Thank you for your help and participation in the event.

Water Bottles and Start Times for LNSC Training Sessions

by Stephen Benbow

A gentle reminder for all swimmers to bring water bottles poolside with them.

Training is physical exercise and bodies do sweat and loose water.  We just can’t see it as we are in the swimming pool.

Drinking water throughout a training session is important to keep our bodies hydrated and performing well.

Can all swimmers please arrive at the training venue 10 minutes before their training session and can they be changed, poolside, and ready to enter the water WHEN THE SESSION STARTS.

We have noticed reently that training sessions are taking longer to start due to swimmers not being ready or continuing to talk to their peers instead of entering the water.  Starting 5 minutes late for a 60 minute session is almost 10% of your time gone! We also can’t fully complete the training sets if we are late starting.

Can parents please pass this message along to all swimmers.  Thank you.

Club Champs / Time Trials Reminder

by Stephen Benbow

Just a quick reminder that we have the Club Champs / Time Trials occuring over the next two weeks.  These will be Level 4 licensed events so a great opportunity to get some official times.

Juniors is on Tue 6th June at DMU.  There will be a variety of 25m and 50m events (time dependant).

Seniors is on Fri 9th June and Friday 16th June – both at Parklands.  The expectation is that all swimmers who attend compete in at least 3 events, the choice of events will be down to swimmers.

To run these events we always need Timekeepers and Helpers.  Don’t worry if you don’t have any experience as we will show you what to do and help you.  Just come along and ask the coaches / officials.  Please don’t be shy as it would be great to see more parents poolside helping out !
